The single most common question we receive: "Should I go with zinc alloy or stainless steel?" Both have their place. Here’s how to decide.
Zinc Alloy (Zamac)
Pros: Lower cost, easy to mold into complex shapes, faster production times.
Cons: Color durability shorter than stainless steel, requires careful coating selection.
Best for: Fashion-forward brands, seasonal collections, high-volume orders, intricate designs.
Stainless Steel
Pros: Superior durability, excellent corrosion resistance, doesn't tarnish, premium feel and weight, passes nickel-release tests for European markets.
Cons: Higher unit cost, more difficult to process, limited shaping flexibility.
Best for: Heritage brands, products marketed for longevity, premium price points, EU markets with strict regulations.
Many of our clients use both: stainless steel for hero pieces, zinc alloy for accent hardware. We can help you find the right balance—reach out for a consultation.
